The Attorney General’s Office has released the names of the four officers involved in a the fatal Jan. 21 shooting of 40-year-old Heath Thompson of Nashua.
The officers identified are: Wade Hansen, who has approximately three years of law enforcement experience; Cameon Hult, with about three years law enforcement experience; Conner Reynolds, with two years in law enforcement; and Dakota Van Tassel, who has about seven years of law enforcement experience.
During their encounter with Thompson, Hansen and Reynolds fired their patrol rifles, Hult fired his service pistol and Van Tassel fired a less-than-lethal projectile launcher.
The officers responded to a call reporting a domestic incident at 49 Marie Ave. just before midnight that Sunday. When they arrived, Thompson was standing outside, armed with a gun.
In the confrontation that followed, Van Tassel discharged a nonlethal projectile while the three others fired their weapons.
Thompson retreated inside the home and was later found by police, unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, Nashua police were joined at the scene by members of the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit.
A report on the circumstances surrounding the incident and whether the officers’ use of force was justified will be released when an investigation is complete, the Attorney General’s Office said Friday.
After the shooting, one neighbor said he has seen police cruisers in the past at the home, which is at the corner of Marie Avenue and Edmond Drive in Nashua’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.
