To the Editor: As a retired Air Force officer with more than 27 years of active duty experience, I routinely had access to classified information at the Confidential and Secret levels in my younger years as an astronautical engineer dealing with certain missile launches out of Vandenberg AFB. Later on in my medical career, particularly as a hospital commander located on a Strategic Air Command airbase, I was granted access to certain top secret information needed to carry out my duties. I was well acquainted with procedures for the handling and safeguarding of this information.
In reading the special counsel’s report on President Joe Biden’s handling of classified information, even at the Special Compartmented Information level, the report makes it very clear that President Biden has mishandled this information throughout his political career from the Senate through his vice presidency, despite being repeatedly reminded of the requirements for securing this information. Similar breaches of these protocols by any members of his military or civilian staff would easily land them in prison for many years.
This report clearly lays out the case against the president for his previous mishandling of classified information and does not indicate that he had no culpability for his actions.
