NASHUA -- Members of the city Fire Commission have confirmed a series of promotions involving various Nashua Fire Rescue personnel.
The promotions involved members of the department's administrative, emergency and support services divisions.
In the Administrative Services Division, Karen Conde, the executive assistant/business coordinator, was promoted to business manager. Conde has worked for the city for 10 years, the last eight with Nashua Fire Rescue.
In the Support Services Division, Amanda Cormier, a fire alarm operator and supervisor since 2013, was promoted to inspector/investigator with the Fire Marshal's office.
Chief Steve M. Buxton conducted the swearing-in of the following members who received promotions:
• Lt. Matthew Parzych, promoted to captain. He joined the department in May 2000, and is a member of the Dive Team and Hazardous Materials Team.
• Lt. Matthew Perault, promoted to captain. He joined the department in 2000; has been a member of the Hazardous Materials Response Team since 2015.
• Firefighter Brian Morrissey Jr., promoted to lieutenant. Hired June 2011; second generation firefighter with NFR, the son of retired Chief Brian Morrissey Sr.
• Firefighter Joshua Hanson, promoted to lieutenant. Hired May 2012; has served on the Hazmat and Dive Teams.
• Firefighter Joseph Hebert, promoted to lieutenant. Hired September 2010; served as aide to now-retired Deputy Chief James Kirk.
• Firefighter Derek Franzek, promoted to lieutenant. Hired November 2012; served as aide to now-retired Deputy Chief Glen MacDonald and currently serves as aide to Deputy Kevin Kerrigan.
• Firefighter Benjamin Clark, promoted to lieutenant. Hired June 2011. Formerly stationed at Station 1; now assigned to Station 3.
New weekend edition; no newspaper Monday As a reminder to readers, the New Hampshire Sunday News is now being published on Saturdays. The color Sunday comics are inside this new weekend edition, along with Saturday comics and the puzzle pages for both weekend days. This week, the Union Leader will not be published on Monday in observance of Presidents Day.
